Super Cheap DIY Makeup Brush Cleanser

DIY Makeup Brush Cleanser:

Cleaning my makeup brushes clearly isn’t my favourite task to do. However, thinking about using dirty brushes simply is just gross. Dirty brushes actually become abrasive and dry when caked with makeup and debris from your face (AKA dead skin cells). Cleaning your brushes regularly helps to keep them soft, which in turn allows them to last much longer.

You should regularly clean your brushes every month but I set aside a time each week to clean mine. I have a large selection of brushes so I can get away with doing it once a week. I generally use a DIY cleanser for my brushes that is super cheap to make. For $5, You will have enough product to make this brush cleanser for months and months, and you have all of the ingredients already in your kitchen! So what is this cheap brush cleanser you ask? Well, let me share that with you.

You will need

  • 1 Cup Water – FREE

  • 1 Bottle Of Dish Soap – $2

  • 1 Bottle Of Vinegar – $3

  • 1 Cup Water

  • 1 TBSP Dish Soap

  • 2 TBSP Vinegar

That’s it! In my opinion, Dawn dish soap is best as I find it easily removes oily products from my brushes. I simply use tap water and bring it to a boil, just to get any impurities out of it. Allow to cool to a warm temperature and measure 1 cup. Add in 1 tbsp of dish soap and 2 tbsp of vinegar. Give them a little mix and you are ready to clean those dirty brushes. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and tap off any excess water. If you have a brush drying holder, place them there and allow to dry. If not, just lay them flat on a clean towel until dry. The end result is soft, cleansed brushes that won’t irritate your skin. You will never have to worry about running out of your expensive brush cleanser again. This also works to clean your beauty sponge applicator. Just ensure you rinse it very well prior to letting it dry 🙂 Related Posts:
